warning: this post is pretty cheesy.
our harry potter and the half blood prince extravaganza was so much fun!
first, we headed to dinner at lasher's where they were hosting a harry potter themed evening.
(if you're ever in long beach, please please please go to lasher's. you won't be sorry. this place is tasty and has excellent service. even if you don't live in the area, i would highly recommend getting on the mailing list - the owner's emails are clever, hilarious, and always entertaining. plus, they keep you updated on all the special events, deals, and happenings at lasher's.)
we encountered a dementor upon entering. let me tell you, that dementor's kiss is no joke.
thank goodness levi was there to cast a patronus and save me. (his patronus is a lily kitty, by the way.)
we kicked off the evening with some polyjuice potion, and i tried my hand at turning into one of aragog's offspring.
the menu was excellent. we each had severus snape's slytherin stew. levi tried the black lake halibut with gilly weed butter, and i had the shortribs of romanian ridgeback. yummm.
and we capped off our meal with hagrid's chocolate molten cake and wizard's candy. oh my yum!
our dinner included tickets to see the movie! how nifty is that?!?
we took our full bellies home, changed into some comfy clothes, and headed to the theatre (i always take a blanket with me to the movies).
we arrived about an hour and a half early to wait in line.
then we enjoyed the show!
didn't get home til two in the morning, but it was so worth it. such a fun time.
thank you so much to ray lasher and everyone at the restaurant for making this such a fun experience. we will absolutely be back!
p.s. i warned you we were nerds. i think you believe me now, don't you?
what a great idea! i wish there was a restaurant near us that did that!! looks soo fun.
ReplyDeletethat sounds amazing!
ReplyDeletethis is why i want to live in america, people in the uk never do anything interesting like that.
Wow! Looks like a blast! I wish there were a Harry Potter dinner somewhere near me... you're lucky lucky lucky people. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my, fun!!!! I'm so jealous! I love the themed dinner. That is totally cool... and I'm totally a Harry Potter nerd!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is like a dream come true!! I'm super duper jealous. I guess you missed my post where I went to the midnight showing dressed as Luna Lovegood. lol. I think we're equally nerdy.
ReplyDeleteI think that sounds like loads of fun! I can't wait to see the movie!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so jealous of your HP cuisine! We had to settle for plain ole Italian on our HP date night, but I was definitely sporting my Gryffindor t-shirt!
ReplyDeleteWow that sounds just heavenly. Nerd or not the movie was great! I am so jealous of your awesome HP themed dinner/dessert!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me love you oh.so.much.more Which i didnt know was possible! I love that dinner!!! So fuuunnn!
ReplyDeleteThat is seriously the best thing I've ever heard of! A harry potter themed dinner? Unreal. I'll have to drag my husband to it sometime. He loves HP.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it say about me that I read this entire post where you talk about what a nerd you are and the nerdy things you did and the only thing I thought at the end was "Man, bringing a blanket to the movie theater is smart"?
ReplyDeletetotally not nerdy. i love all of it. i especially love the cute menu. what did you think of the movie? i was a little dissapointed a few things were left out--- but it was mostly amazing!!! can't be perfect, i guess :)
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I need to have a Harry Potter dinner now. What a fun evening.
ReplyDeleteI am so incredibly jealous. That restaurant is so cool! I read the menu to Will on the phone and he was amazed, haha. I'm so glad you had an amazing HP themed night - they are the best! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous! I just went to the midnight showing and maybe, possibly dressed up a little bit... no big deal. i wish there were HP festivities around here but I couldn't find any. You guys are just so cute.
ReplyDeleteMmm... wizard's candy. I think I'll call rock candy by that name from now on. By the way, I cut short a vacation by half a day to go see Harry Potter on opening day. I don't think you can beat that level of nerdiness.
ReplyDeleteHow cool that a restaurant gets all HP and fantastic and amazing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect night. Glad you didn't get sucked in by the Dementor's Kiss. Those'll kill ya!
I want some polyjuice potion to turn into you - this is fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw the film on Sunday and I loved it - so excited for the next two!

I am SO jealous. No restaurant in the area was doing this or else I would've been first in line. Looks like it was amazing.

ReplyDeletethis. is. awesome. !!!! i have a date with a friend wednesday night to watch the movie. and then i think i'm gonna have to read all the books all over again. because let's be honest...the books are soooo good.
ReplyDeletei totally can combat your nerdiness! i've yet to post some pictures, from the event, but, i'm sure you may agree whence all is said and done that you may consider yourself (for better or worse) more normal after looking upon the evening here in the 717.
ReplyDeletealso, hp themed food is by far, the best food. ever.
HAPPY HARRY POTTER!
oh my word. i'm telling scott about this! so adorable and glad you had such a great theme! the movie was soo short, too!
