a high class date

last night, we went on a dessert date at mcdonald's.

it was kind of awesome. (so is this picture. look at levi's tongue!)

the manager kept yelling really loud at all the employees...which is sad but kinda funny at the same time. we couldn't believe she was seriously yelling in front of customers!

we're going to be super cheap this "weekend" because we have a lot of fun things coming up that will cost us a pretty penny:

tuesday - dinner with our friends dave and melany

wednesday - levi is taking me to a.....HARRY POTTER THEMED dinner for opening night. i heard about it last fall and have been wanting to go ever since. i might be the world's hugest dork. not sure.

some time in july - orange county fair and six flags!

lots of fun on the horizon!
i'm sure we'll have fun being cheap this "weekend" too. :)

  1. we just visited 6Flags and it was 2-for-1...check out deals online...oh and by the way....do you have a really good headshot of your haircut??? I LOVE it and am thinking I would like it. Oh yeah...and as for the OC Fair, check into the dates I had heard that they were limiting the week day openings
    Thanks

  2. Haha. I love McDonald's. The funniest things always happen there...

And going to a Harry Potter themed dinner is NOT dorky in the least! That sounds like the coolest thing EVER. (Or perhaps I'm just a dork too?) Anyway, have huge amounts of fun with everything! :)

  3. I call it finding joy in the little things. Don and I used to date once a week at McDonalds and actually I kind of miss those dates. I hope you have a wonderful time enjoying your planned events. xo

  6. we take Harry Potter sooooo seriously at our house! we're having a pre-movie party with sparklers as wands, and then seeing the movie at 11:59 that night. HUGE dorks over at our house too!

  7. Purposefully being stingy can sometimes force creativity into motion - I like it a lot.

  9. Harry.. Potter.. themed.. dinner?
Yes.. I'm not jealous at all. Nup.

    =( I am.

I love how you put quotations around every "weekend" haha. Our weekends are on Thursday and Friday - for some reason that's just too confusing and blasphemous for anyone to understand.

I love your blog and the idea behind it, keep it up! =)

  10. Haha, cute photo! This post reminds me of a guy a friend of mine used to date. He was super cheap and she was always paying for things, and one time after she'd taken him out for (another) nice dinner he says to her, "I'll get the dessert. McFlurries on me."

  13. p.s. if you dress up as Luna Lovegood to the dinner, here is a great link. It tells you how to make the raddish earrings and spectrespecs.http://diyfashion.about.com/od/costumes/ig/How-To-Harry-Potter-Costumes/Luna-Lovegood-Costume.htm

  16. there is no way that attending an opening night Harry Potter themed diner makes you a dork.

    well, maybe a little.

but you see, everyone, and i mean, everyone should do it. like my gang in harrisburg. tomorrow night we will be dressing most hardcore as various characters (i'm going as the whomping willow) and attending the midnight showing, then i'm throwing an after party called Harry Potter and the Dance til Dawn, which include a Dumbledorium (memorial service for Dumbledore complete with a program) and then awesome foodies (including cauldron cakes, pumpkin pasties, licorice wands, and various weasley wizard wheezes) and then wizard rock!

so, you see, you're not a dork! you're a wizarding enthusiast! welcome to the party!

  20. ill be attending the HP midnight premier as crookshanks... along with about 20 or so other friends all dressed as various HP characters!

and my sister and I have this thing we do called "Mcflurry runs" where I drive her to mcdonalds really late at night, we each order mcflurries, and proceed to eat them in the parking lot and talk. It's a cheap and easy way for us to bond... and probably one of my favorite traditions we have.

  23. For the last Harry Potter movie I made t-shirts for all my friends. I was 31 at the time so if that isn't dorky I don't know what is! Because I have been working like a crazy woman for the past month (just catching up on your blog right now) I didn't get to make t-shirts for this movie. However, we are totally going to have a Harry Potter themed dinner this week even if we can't go to the movie until I arrange for a babysitter.

Now to look up a recipe for treacle tart (I already know how to make pumpkin juice).

  24. hahahaha i laughed out loud about the mcdonald's manager...you're right, sad but funny.

two summers ago i worked as a children's program coordinator at my local library, and we planned a huge harry potter party for the last book's debut. i was such a dork, painting all the house banners and making chocolate wands with the kids!

  26. and i just went to a six flags over the weekend! joyous fun.

I would recommend the sunscreen (as I can vouch for 2nd degree burns on my face and they are not fun, especially when it infects your eye)..
