i promise that i'll be done talking about our road trip to cambria one day.
but today is not that day!
we couldn't make the trip to cambria without visiting hearst castle in san simeon. it's one of my favorite places. levi had never been, so i was excited to go with him!
it was an absolutely gorgeous day, and we had a great time touring the castle and taking in all the beauty.
i think you'll notice that i loved all the statues...
this was my favorite statue:
we decided that we were those lovers secluded in that sunny little corner of the castle.
and this has always been my favorite part of hearst castle, the roman pool:
i'd love to do a perfect swan dive off of that diving platform.
before we took the bus up to the castle, they made everyone pose for a green screen tourist photo. we decided to make our pose interesting...
ours was definitely the most entertaining.
and this is my favorite photo... it's the wallpaper on my phone. :)
hearst castle is such a beautiful place with a fascinating story. i've always been enchanted by it. once upon a time, i even looked into how much it would cost to have a wedding there (this was pre-levi... i just asked out of curiosity). in case you're wondering, it's about a bajillion dollars, and your guests can't go inside.
if you ever have the opportunity to go to hearst castle, i highly recommend it!
Wow, I'd love to go there too.
ReplyDeleteHave a wedding, but your guests can't go inside? Pay a million dollars and sit outside? Nevermind that!
When i was little I had a view master (remember those) and i had a slide of the Hearst Castle. It was one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a fun time! =)
I love Hearst castle! It is so fun.
ReplyDeleteI wanna go back!!
ReplyDeleteSuper gorgeous pictures and that water looks really inviting.
ReplyDeleteThat pool is amazing! Too pretty to swim in.
ReplyDeletewhat a perfect day to go - looks beautiful! i haven't been since i was a kid. may be on my road trip agenda soon!
ReplyDeleteI loooove Hearst Castle, but the last visit hasn't been for many years. It's got to be one of the most amazing homes ever. I was always awestruck when we visited and I'm determined to take my hubby whenever we finally go to California to visit my mom - especially after seeing your pictures.
ReplyDeleteLast time I went to California my friend told me we had to go to Hearst Castle. Unfortunately, we didn't make it, but it looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteJas, these pics are amazing! I need to check out this place.
ReplyDeleteLet's go together when I move down & road trip with rad tunes and bring wine and cheese and pass out in the one of the pools and get kicked out and have the boys pick us up ;-)
I told the hubs we need to take a trip because I'm going crazy with school and work, haha. I'm thinking maybe Cambria, you make it sound so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon your blog and I just wanted to say I love these photos. I think calling archives: vintage posts is one of the cutest ideas ever! And I think the idea of a honeymoon registry is beyond adorable!
ReplyDeleteThat place is absolutely beautiful. I would love to go swimming in that Roman pool.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are stunning and the place looks gorgeous. I would love to visit there someday!
ReplyDeleteOh wow - so beautiful! Your pictures are so much better than the Hearst Castle's website pictures! Lol. My sister's been there but I've never been. I totally want to now. :)
