three things.

one.

our friend, ed, saw our wedding rings at the jeweler's (he works in jewelry so he was there on business). he called levi to give him an ETA and used the f-word to describe how beautiful my ring looks.

this pretty much made my entire week! i get a little shaky with excitement when i think about it. i CAN'T WAIT to see both of our rings!!!!

two.

in other news, i love levi.

i know this is stating the obvious, but he's just really incredible. he is the best sounding board in the world. he helps me sort out my feelings and make decisions. he gives me great advice. he always supports me. he surprises me with little treats and things he knows i would like. he makes me feel special. he has stepped up SO much with wedding planning. he actually takes care of things without me having to ask him!!! planning things! and this is totally out of his element. he is not naturally inclined to take care of these types of chores, but he makes the effort because he loves me. he makes himself remember to do these things. it means so much more to me than he'll ever understand.

he loves me so much more than i realize. sometimes i feel like he must love me more than i love him. he's better at showing me his love anyway. i'm so lucky to be this loved. i don't deserve it in any way.

three.

levi dropped my toothbrush in the toilet the other night. we laughed.

last week/this week

last week, at this time, we were heading to downtown LA to take care of our wedding rings.

(side-note: i had to leave my ring there, and i'm hating not wearing it. i'm sooooo excited to get it back though and to see levi's ring! ohhh, they're gonna be amazing.)

and this week, we're heading back to downtown LA to get some supplies for wedding décor. wish us luck!

i'm kinda hoping that we'll pop into bottega louie for something yummy like we did last week...

(this is our very good friend, ed. he's levi's "big brother" and my {almost} "brother-in-law." he's the BEST.)

(they serve their iced tea with simple syrup! it's the little things.)

(little things like complimentary sparkling water & pink salt in the shakers)

(poor levi was sick & running a fever. he let me & ed do most of the talking.)

(bianco pizza with ricotta & arugula. divine.)

it was the most beautiful restaurant. i want to buy it and live in it. pretty sure we're going to have to stop in for lunch today...

happy fall weekend!

photos from the week:

bed head - some mornings it really makes me laugh.

we're throwing a little party this weekend for my family (levi keeps laughing at me for calling it a party since it's just going to be my family...who we always hang out with, but i think it makes it more special & fun to call it a party). it's going to be a fall celebration with a hearty meal, something pumpkin-y or apple-y for dessert, fall decor, and some kind of craftiness (or maybe just a walk - we'll see). i'm excited!

i will also spend a good portion of the weekend tearing apart my closet and trying everything on to find an outfit for my bridal shower next weekend!!

do you have anything exciting planned? even if you don't, i think you'll still have an exciting weekend. there's something in the air...

08 October, 2010

if i had to be sick, at least it rained.

this was my view from the couch for the last week:

there will be no getting dressed post this week...unless you want to see pictures of me wearing huge pajama pants and levi's shirts.

i finally left the house yesterday after coming down with some sort of mystery ailment on saturday night.

man, was i bored! and then complacency set in. it got to the point where i didn't even care if i left the house...or the couch. all i wanted to do was lie around watching bad movies and playing cooking dash, wedding dash, and diner dash on levi's iPhone. (i'm scared to think what will happen when i get an iPhone of my own.)

also, all i ever want to eat is junk food when i'm sick. sweets and fried things. bad movies, bad food. it's all bad.

it's nice to be free of my couch prison!

in other good news: i got a promotion AND a raise at my job! i am now an editor. i like the sound of that! i start next week.

annnnnnd in even BETTER news:

i'm going to be an aunt!!!!!! actually, i'm going to be a tia. :)
(my sister-in-law is half peruvian.)

ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh.
i'm beyond excited. i'm already looking into car seats and strollers and playpens. levi says we don't need our own, but i say rubbish to that!

it's shaping up to be an excellent weekend.

p.s. super fun new series in the works. i'm hoping to start it up next week. stay tuned!

love & s.w.a.k.,

this week.

i'm feeling rather disconnected this week. do you ever have weeks like that? where you almost get to a numb place void of feeling, emotion, passion, and inspiration.

it's not like i feel bad. not at all. i just don't really feel much of anything. it's off and on of course, but, for the most part, this is how i've felt. i'm pretty sure it's a result of being overwhelmed and stressed.

i don't really like it, but i think it's important for me to just "be" in this place right now. why fight it? i spend so much of my energy fighting, forcing, controlling, and "fixing" my feelings, thoughts, reactions, everything. it's really exhausting, and it wears down my self-esteem and confidence.

i never just go with the flow or accept things the way they come. honestly, this can be a huge strength in some ways. i refuse to settle, and i like to go after what i want. but sometimes, i just need to let go and simply exist in the moment.

don't you wish there was a pill for that? i do. i kinda wish there was a pill for everything. :)

here are some photos that i keep staring at lately. levi took them on his iPhone when we went to the huntington library a few weeks ago. i'm not sure why, but they always make me feel calm and happy when i see them. i think they're sort of appropriate for this post.

(i thought it was really funny that levi kept taking pictures of these guys' butts.)

(this is almost exactly what i picture when i go to my "happy/peaceful place" in my mind. i just wanna run around & dance through that field all by myself.)

okay, that's all i've got today. i'm gonna try to give myself a relaxing, nurturing weekend. i hope you're able to do the same.

headin' out

we're leaving for las vegas in approximately 6 hours.

some of our friends generously offered to take us, and we're so excited to get away!

hooray!

i'm praying the heat doesn't kill me. i'm not exactly a hot weather lover...and i don't really enjoy gambling...and i'm not a big drinker...haha! but i love food and hotels and the bellagio water show and big city lights and friends and vacation!!

we come home on monday, so keep up with me on twitter if you want levi & jasmine in las vegas updates. :)

here are some scenes from our week:

(kitty stack)

(my attempt at an updo)

(trying to reduce the world's largest underwear collection)
(p.s. this is the second time my underwear have made it on this blog. first time here.)

(this is the bottle of water levi chooses to take on a hike.)

(rediscovered a forgotten shirt in my closet)

(so i wore it two days in a row)

(i didn't like the weird face i made in the picture above so i hid for the next shot.)

have a happy weekend!

love,
jasmine & her cheesy faced fiancé, levi
(seriously. every time i pull out the camera, he puts on this face. he has a special sound that accompanies it. i think it's something he got from peter griffin.)

forgetfulness

sometimes i forget that feelings are only temporary and that just because i have one bad day, it doesn't mean the world is over.

or that i've failed.

or that i'll never feel any differently.

i also forget that bloating occurs every single month and that this does NOT mean that i've suddenly gotten fat overnight.

some day, i'll have these things figured out...

...and then i'll have new problems. ;)

here are some scenes from our week (that you may have already seen on my twitter page):

(shopping without buying)

(levi & the neighbor kitty i named gog)

(late to church)

(i live in the land of sunshine.)

i like to steal levi's iPhone...or his leviPhone, as he likes to call it. i call it his ife.

have a happy weekend! tonight, i'm going to see rufus wainwright at the greek with my momma & sister! yippee!

06 August, 2010

friday, you're so sneaky!

this week, i...

...celebrated my little brother's 25th birthday with my family.

...measured myself, levi, gretel, and lily against the kitchen door frame.

...admired my newest pretty, little dancer from my mom. every time she sees a dancer, she has to buy it for me. she can't resist. i love them.

...tried the sea salt iced coffee at 85°C in irvine. sweetened iced coffee with sea salt foam. pretty tasty.

...received the prettiest, new shirt from my mom. seriously. i'm spoiled.

...put down a deposit on our reception venue!

...witnessed my little gretel turn into a funny, old man on the couch...she's actually a very small kitty; this just isn't the most flattering angle for her.

...received our first wedding gift! from a blogger! so sweet and incredibly generous. :)

...took about a hundred thousand pictures of gretel on her new "hammock" that levi built for the kitty sisters.

...visited my beloved paulette and the grove with my mom, sister, and s-i-l, chrystal.

up next...the weekend!
