So Long, Toddler Tails!

A couple weeks ago, Levi lopped off my toddler tails, and I went back to short hair.

I think you all know already that my husband, Levi, is a hair stylist. He's been doing my hair since we started dating almost four years ago. However, he hasn't been doing much with it lately because I'm growing it... well, I think I'm growing it. I can't make up my mind.

ANNNNNYWAY, he's very good at what he does, and in May, he moved to a new salon! He is now at Molly Moon in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach, CA. It has been fantastic so far. He's really close to home (0.7 miles), and he can see the ocean from his chair!

In belated celebration of the move, Levi is giving away a haircut (male or female) (valued at $60+) to a local reader!

Besides women's hair cuts, Levi is also really great at men's hair cuts, color, highlights, straightening treatments (he has something that kicks the Brazilian keratin and keratin smoothing treatments out of the water, and it won't POISON you), and blowouts.

this is me lately.

i'm a shaggy-haired monster.

my hair hasn't been this long in more than 3 years!! it's totally shapeless and ridiculous looking. all i can do with it is put it in "toddler tails" (aka pig tails that are so short they make me like i'm 3) and an "up-do" (this is just me pinning the mullet-y bit in the back up with some bobby pins).

ever since i started wearing my hair in the little teeny-tiny pig tails, i have become more and more convinced that the majority of men are perverts at heart. the menfolk really dig the toddler tails.

especially benjamin franklin.

this week, levi made me blonder and added some lavender pieces to my hair.

i LOVE it.

unfortunately, it's really tricky to photograph.

toddler pigtails & a couple other things

i wore pigtails last night!

but my hair is so short that i started calling them toddler pigtails. hehe!

this is the first time i've put my hair "up" in almost three years!

and did you notice that christmas has made its way to south coast plaza?? yay! it's been there since before halloween, but i still find it very exciting. however, christmas is not allowed in my house 'til after thanksgiving...well, actually it's not allowed 'til after levi's birthday but that's always right before, if not on, thanksgiving. did you know he's going to be 30 on monday?? i have a little surprise planned for him this weekend. shhhh!

we went shopping last night for groomsmen outfits. we're putting them in all different outfits just like the bridesmaids - black & white patterns.

i'm pretty excited. i think the boys will look pretty hot - none hotter than my levi, of course! :)

can you tell i'm all energized from finally getting out and doing something last night??! i'm finally starting to recover from this awful plague. of course, now i've started my 3-4 weeks of cramping. ahhh, the joys of being a woman.

wedding planning: hair...again!

it's official.

i'm growing my hair out for the wedding.

it hasn't been cut in months.

haha! levi said i looked like andy warhol after he blew it out.

it's severely overgrown, and we're just gonna keep letting it grow between now and the wedding! he's not going to cut it again 'til my hair trial. i might go crazy.

we asked one of the other stylists at levi's salon to do my wedding hair! i'm so excited! he's so good with curl and styles for special events!! he curled a small section of my hair a couple nights ago. i was in love with it!! here's a tiny-mini preview:

it's going to be so pretty and romantic-looking, especially with my veil. i can't wait!

(btw, i wish i could wear a cathedral length veil with a blusher all day, every day.)

hair and makeup!!

i am totally at a loss for what to do in the hair department.

what do i do with my hair???

it's really long (for me) right now, so do i continue growing it? but do i really want to be in an awkward growing out phase from now until then? and what if i don't like it? then, i have to cut my hair right before the wedding??

and the biggest question of all:

who's going to do my hair??? levi has made it clear that this won't be happening on our wedding day:

i also have to find someone to do my makeup...i know who i want - a girl i went to esthetician school with. i've never liked my makeup better than when she did it.

i know i will absolutely not be doing my own hair and makeup on my wedding day. i would be way too nervous. i have SOOOO much admiration for brides who do their own wedding hair and/or makeup.

what about you? did you do your own hair? your own makeup? did you go somewhere to have it done? did they come to you? or if you're not married, what's your plan?

as much as i love my hair...

i've been kind of itching to change it for awhile.

i change it a lot as it is, but there's only so much you can do with short hair without going totally crazy. so i think i might grow my hair out after the wedding. there's noooooo way i'm going to try to grow it out between now and then. no one wants to be in an awkward growing-the-hair-out phase on their wedding day.

as i was flipping through j.crew's september catalogue (btw, i want everything in there including this), i think i might have found my next hair style:

ah! it's so cute!! and i think it would look good on me.

now, here's hoping i can survive the incredibly awkward process of growing out short hair.

if you can't put hot pink in your hair during the summer when you work from home, then when can you? i'm sure i don't know.

bad hair days

living with your hair stylist does NOT always guarantee that you have great hair.

case in point:

can you see how awful it is?? it's like 9 different colors...and not in a good way. and it's all floppy and bushy and overgrown. it has been driving me cuckoo!

levi has been so busy lately that my hair has fallen by the wayside.

but he found some time to squeeze me in for color the other day and cut my hair at home late last night! yay!

by the way, levi says that i'm hands down and absolutely his worst client. hahaha! he says i can't sit still, and i complain too much. it's true. i do. i'm sorry, levi! thank you for putting up with my shenanigans and for doing my hair!
