why we love our neighborhood reason #3

reason #3:
the twin kitties

we saw these two little black kittens running around the first day we looked out our apartment.

they are hilarious. i watch them from our living room windows playing with each other, running, leaping, tumbling, rolling. they always make me smile.

and they are always trying to get into our house. they see an open door as a big, giant invitation.

they like to sit under our windows and "talk" to lily. in other words, they just sit and stare at each other. it's so cute!

these two little twinsie kitties have made our home a more joyful place to live.

p.s. i picked a puzzle winner! finally!! i let levi pick a name out of a hat. our lucky, little winner is stephanie from you're on my mind. i need your address, stephanie! :)

la playa

we love long beach.

we really really do.

but long beach isn't perfect.

one thing it doesn't have is a proper beach.

it has a beach, but i wouldn't recommend going in the water...unless you enjoy swimming with syringes.

yessss, i am completely exaggerating.

but still, the water's not the cleanest due to the breakwater (pretty interesting debate concerning the breakwater in LB. if you're interested, you should certainly google it.)

i grew up in huntington beach, across the street from the beach (feel free to hate me; i know i'm spoiled). now that's a proper beach. it is my beach of choice.

so yesterday we took a little trip down south to good ol hb to do a little sunbathing and frolicking.

my baby sis was kind enough to document.

my camera was being funny, which is why the last two are out of focus, but i kinda think it was a lucky mistake 'cause they look pretty cool!

cheap weekend day one

we did a pretty good job being cheap yesterday.

expenses:

peet's iced latte - $2.90
(p.s. does anyone else hate nonfat milk as much as i do? they ran out of lowfat & substituted nonfat. blech. that stuff is more water than milk!)

strips at the beach & a coke - $5

TK burger (for levi) - $5

entertainment (the beach) - free!

more from the beach later!

we definitely need a couch

i've been trying my hardest to make something else work as a couch in the meantime, but it's just not the same, you know??

there is an end in sight. we're saving up and will be fixing the place up at the beginning of the school year.

in the meantime, i'll keep experimenting. maybe i'll come up with something.

a high class date

last night, we went on a dessert date at mcdonald's.

it was kind of awesome. (so is this picture. look at levi's tongue!)

the manager kept yelling really loud at all the employees...which is sad but kinda funny at the same time. we couldn't believe she was seriously yelling in front of customers!

we're going to be super cheap this "weekend" because we have a lot of fun things coming up that will cost us a pretty penny:

tuesday - dinner with our friends dave and melany

wednesday - levi is taking me to a.....HARRY POTTER THEMED dinner for opening night. i heard about it last fall and have been wanting to go ever since. i might be the world's hugest dork. not sure.

some time in july - orange county fair and six flags!

lots of fun on the horizon!
i'm sure we'll have fun being cheap this "weekend" too. :)
