confessions

these are my confessions.

1. i'm prone to exaggeration.
i.e. i say things like, "this is the cutest thing i've ever seen" and "i love it with all my heart."

2. i abuse exclamation points!!!!!!!

3. i don't care the teensiest bit about prince william & kate middleton or their upcoming wedding.

4. sometimes when levi has asked me to take care of something before he gets home from work, i wait 'til he texts me to say he's coming home before starting it.

5. i often eat the same exact thing for lunch (or breakfast or dinner) for weeks at a time.

6. some days i don't leave the house until the sun has already gone down.

7. i have a backlog of pictures and stories for blog posts that i'm too lazy to write.

8. sometimes remembering to take pictures when i'm out feels like torture (please see #1).

9. however, i have 166 pictures of the sky on my iPhone... all taken in one day.

10. sometimes it takes me a month (or more) to wear something that i absolutely had to have.

11. i can be a raging bitch some days for no apparent reason.

12. i don't like having my picture taken, but i do like having pretty pictures of myself.

13. i have a collection of kelly dolls in a box in my closet. sometimes i look at them.

14. i stopped watching the oscars because i never see oscar-worthy movies anymore. i prefer films like the lizzie mcguire movie, which i saw while it was in theatres. i also saw spice world at the theatre.

15. i can be a terribly pretentious snob.

16. i have to check my heart rate while playing tiny wings. i'm serious. i'm not exaggerating on this one.

17. last night, i wore ugg boots with rolled up jeans and a sweatshirt with no bra or shirt underneath. OUT IN PUBLIC.

18. i wanted to come up with a good final item for this list, but i got distracted... and then i forgot... and now i'm just too lazy...

c'est si bon!

this morning, my sister stopped by my house with a fresh baguette from c'est si bon in newport beach. wasn't that nice of her??

they make AMAZING bread. if you're local, you should definitely give them a try.

i enjoyed a piece with some butter and apricot preserves.

spring cleaning

levi and i did some pretty intense spring cleaning yesterday.

we worked so hard that we were starving by the time we were done. starving, but exhausted. fortunately, there was a little bit of häagen dazs cookie dough ice cream in the freezer. all we could do was sit and stare at the tv as we finished it up.

obviously, i had enough energy to grab my camera too. ;)
(btw, our walls don't look that fluorescent in real life.)

you probably can't tell, but those blinds, screens, and windows behind us are spick & span, thanks to yours truly!

today, we're going to try to enjoy the rest of our weekend... maybe with a bit more ice cream and a bit less cleaning...

one of my favorite foods

the artichoke is one of my favorite foods, and this is my favorite way to prepare it.

roasted artichokes

what you'll need:
2 artichokes
1 lemon
2 cloves of garlic, peeled
olive oil
salt
foil

IMG_0035

preheat the oven to 425°.

IMG_0046

cut the stem off the artichoke. cut 1 inch of the top off. trim all the leaves. rub all cut edges with a cut lemon so that they don't discolor.

IMG_0036

tear off 2 large squares of foil. rub a few drops of olive oil on the center of the foil, and place artichoke on the foil stem-side down.

IMG_0039

push a clove of garlic into the center of the artichoke.

sprinkle about 1/4 teaspoon of salt and drizzle about 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the top.

IMG_0043

squeeze half of a lemon over the top. the lemon juice washes the salt and olive oil down into the leaves of the artichoke.

wrap the artichoke up.

IMG_0045

place both foil-wrapped artichokes in an oven-safe dish. bake at 425° for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

IMG_0048

let them rest in the foil for 20 minutes, and serve. they can be eaten hot, warm, or chilled.

i like to dip it in balsamic vinegar. delicious!

bon appétit!
