behind the scenes

well, it finally happened. i got my first nasty email this morning. i wrote back to the girl without being mean (even though i kind of wanted to). i actually thanked her for reading. haha! then i tried my best to brush it off, but, i'll be honest, it's kind of thrown me a bit. i don't understand why people find it necessary to tell you they don't like you or your blog. if you don't like it, please don't read it. ignore me. but don't say mean things, please. i'm a very sensitive girl, and mean comments hurt my feelings.

i really thank God though that this is not the norm by any means. this blogging community has been so incredible for me. i get a lot of emails from you guys. and besides this one, they have all been incredibly uplifting, encouraging, and personal. i love that you feel comfortable openly telling me things about your life. i love that i've inspired even one of you! i never thought of myself as inspirational! hearing that just encourages me to keep living my life the best way i know how, to keep loving the guts out of levi, and to keep searching for the good and the positive in all things and situations. my blog has given me a place to be myself at all times. it's a place where i can showcase my quirky, sometimes weird, personality. the post below is a perfect example of that. i love that you guys accept me for who i am and appreciate me. it makes every day so much sweeter and happier.

i'm definitely not going to let the comments of one unhappy girl get to me or change how i do things around here. i've got plans for this blog, and it is here to stay, so all the haters out there should just accept this and keep their unkind words to themselves. i have enabled comment moderation though. i don't want to let other people's negativity seep into this blog. i think it's safe to say that none of us wants that here! so if you guys are wondering where your comments are, don't worry. they're in my inbox, and i will approve them as quickly as i can.

and just so i'm not hinting at my future plans for the blog without giving you any kind of clue as to what i'm talking about, i'll tell you this - i've thought a lot about the title of my blog. it's becoming less relevant to the life levi and i are currently living (hopefully, it stays that way!). i've thought about changing the title, but i have decided against that. instead of changing the title, we will be changing our lives. we're taking the good fortune we've had and sharing it with others in need since we know just how it feels to be in that position. right now, we really don't have much in terms of money or resources, so we're doing this in very small ways. but as this blog and our good fortune continue to grow, we will be giving back in bigger ways. i believe that God's biggest commandment to us is to love Him and love others. i remind myself of this every single day and try to live my life according to that principle (and trust me, i often fail miserably). i think the world would be an even more beautiful place if we all tried to live this way.

are we human or are we dancer?

i still DO NOT get that song.

what is he talking about???

and why is on his knees looking for an answer to that question?

of all the questions, why that one? how did he even think of that?

but, for the record, i'm dancer.

i like super ropes.

they're fun and delicious.

what's your favorite candy?
(tough question, i know.)

02 June, 2009

it's june!!!!

it's my favorite. well, it's tied with december.

june means two very important days:

my birthday!!!! (june 17)

AND

moving day!!!!! (june 15)

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

so you know how i was looking forward to arguing over paint colors with levi?

yeah, it wasn't an argument. it was surprisingly easy! (the only thing we are arguing about is having a desk - he wants one; i don't.)

{disclaimer on all paint colors - we will be testing them all first just to make sure, and they have, of course, scanned differently than the swatches we have.}

i really did make a strong case for painting the living room yellow, but levi wasn't having it, so we went with retro avocado:

we'll probably do the rest of the room in neutrals with pops of bright orange.

and for our bedroom, levi has some fancy, artsy plan that involves stripes and squiggles in anonymous, with a hint of dragon fruit:

the bedroom will, of course, feature my beautiful for like ever poster.

the kitchen isn't really paintable, but i want to do lemon and navy in there.

and we have this weird, little wall that the dining room table will go against. it's kind of a small alcove in between the living room and bedroom. it's a very small wall. we're going to paint it too...just haven't decided what yet.

i love color!!

what i like about you (and me), the second edition

good morning! i am writing this on sunday night because i have to wake up at 4:45 tomorrow morning to be at work by 7:00. blah, right?!? this should post at 7:00 which means that google won't update anyone until about 10 or 11. haha!

usually i don't work on mondays or tuesdays (that's when we take our "weekend"), but they needed me to this week, so we're just going to cram our weekend into tuesday.

annnnyway, i don't have much in terms of a post for you this morning, but i DO have a new banner that levi made for me! check it out! i love it. i am seriously going to look into how to turn it into a bumper sticker for my little werewolf.

and i'm also going to do my second installment of what i like about you (and me).

if you aren't familiar with this this, please read this post to get the concept.

for the second installment, i am going to tell you all something i like about adeline. she writes a blog called lady croissant. one of the things i like about adeline is how globally inclined she is. do you know that she speak FIVE languages?!? she grew up in france, and she is living in oslo, norway right now for the fourth time. she works as a tour guide which i find completely fascinating. adeline is also very creative. i love her little drawings and doodles, her photographs, and how creative she is with her wardrobe. i think what i like most about her though is how encouraging she has been to me with my blog. she is one of my "founding readers" and one of my first "blog friends." thank you, adeline, for being one of the few to read my blog when no one else did! :)

now it's time for me to tell you something i like about myself. i like how dedicated i can be. when i really, truly love something and REALLY want something, i will stop at nothing to make it happen (i mean, i'm not going to kill anyone or do anything immoral, but i will put a lot of hard work in). i have the ability to quickly calculate what i need to do to make something happen, and then i come up with ways to do those things. the thing i love most about this is that when i really, really, REALLY want to do or achieve something, none of it seems like hard work. i enjoy it because it gives me a sense of accomplishment. i think this is a pretty good trait, and i have complete confidence that i will always succeed at the things i put my mind to.

well, it's 9:30 pm right now, so i better get in bed. have i ever mentioned before that i am NOT a morning person? 'cause i'm not.

at all.

good night! i mean, good morning!
