my heart

i was tagged by cara for this one, and i really wanted to do it so here i go.

instructions: "with as much creativity as you can muster, show your heart in: a picture, a poem, a song (or piece of music), a phrase (or quote), an item of clothing, a place, and (just for fun) a disney princess. if you want to join in, tag 6 more blogs."

a picture

a poem
where the sidewalk ends
shel silverstein

there is a place where the sidewalk ends
and before the street begins,
and there the grass grows soft and white
and there the sun burns crimson bright,
and there the moon-bird rests from his flight
to cool in the peppermint wind.

let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
and the dark street winds and bends.
past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
we shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
and watch where the chalk-white arrows go
to the place where the sidewalk ends.

yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
and we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
for the children, they mark, and the children, they know
the place where the sidewalk ends.

Bolda song
{p.s. jude kissed me once. on the cheek. i thought i was going to faint.}

workin for the weekend

well, we had quite the day yesterday. we didn't get to sleep until almost 5:00 in the morning.

but we got a lot done.

let me show you.

we packed up the car to take a few things over and get a jump on moving. (btw, levi has never worked for ups.)

we reveled in the glory of our new home for a bit.

we discovered how badly the hardwood floors need a good scrubbing and searched for an internet connection. alas, there wasn't one. hopefully, it won't take too long to get it hooked up.

we stopped at costco for lunch on the way to home depot.

grabbed a few odds and ends before heading to the paint department to grab samples of our paint choices.

i made one last final plea for yellow.

it worked! levi, you're my favorite person in the whole wide world!! i consider this part of my birthday present.

we painted the samples on the walls...i went a little overboard with my sample.

we decided against the retro avocado. it was too brown/yellow when we got it on the wall. it looked kind of like the contents of a diaper. we went with rolling hills instead, and it is gorgeous. the yellow in our dining "room" is macaw, and we stuck with anonymous and dragon fruit for the bedroom. can i please tell you how much i love paint color names?? they're fantastic. they make the entire experience so much more fun.

i took a couple extra photos of the place to be nice.

this is the kitchen. we have a back door! the top comes opens. isn't it adorable?? levi wants to put a shelf on the bottom half of the door for cooling pies. i guess i'll be making more pies living here! haha!

this is the bedroom and anonymous on the walls.

i put our names on the mailbox! for some reason, this was very exciting for me. this is the front.

this is the inside.

now here's where we got a little crazy. we were so pumped on painting that we decided to go back to home depot after dinner to buy our paint and get started that very evening.

we left at 4:00 in the morning.

the living room probably needs one more coat to make it perfect.

the dining "room" should be done. i am so excited about this little nook. i can't help but smile every time i see it. we want to get a mini glittering chandelier and hang it from the center of the dining room's little ceiling. it's going to be amazing.

levi didn't do all of the painting, but he did do all of the edging. he's much better at it than i am.

so today, we're going to paint the bedroom, touch up everything else, clean, and pack some more. we'll probably be done in time to watch the laker game. woo!

what i like about you (and me), the third edition

levi and i are planning on spending today getting a jump on the packing, cleaning a bit, putting our names on our new mailbox, and testing out paint colors on our new walls (we got the keys on friday - yippee!). and now, without further ado....

welcome to the third installment of what i like about you (and me)! i'm pretty sure you all know the inspiration for this by now, but if you don't, check this out.

this week, i had absolutely no trouble picking someone (not that i ever do, really).

brooke (a lewis carroll enthusiast) writes a blog called brooke in wonderland about her life with her husband, bobby, and her adorable two year old son, parker (parkie, as she likes to call him). i've never met brooke in real life, not yet anyway, but i know she's special. she's a gem. she has the most beautiful spirit. i love her enthusiasm for life and her family. this girl may be young, but she is a darn good mom. i think mothers of any age or of any number of children could really learn a lot from this woman. she really dedicates herself to her son every single day...which is slightly tougher with parker than it is with other children since he was born deaf. it's obvious that brooke hasn't let this get in the way at all with her ability to connect with her son. i have seriously cried reading some of the letters she has written to parker on her blog. she makes me so excited to have my own babies one day!

ummmm, now me: i really like my empathy. sometimes, it's a problem. like when we're trying to choose a movie to watch. i can't watch anything that's too sad because i'll just keep crying about it for days. but most of the time, i think my empathy is beautiful. i love that i am able to understand someone's point of view or situation soooo much that i can actually feel how they feel. i think it gives me the ability to truly care about others. that's something that this world never has too much of, and i like that.

p.s. parker just had cochlear implant surgery in both ears on friday. he is doing very well, and the implants will be activated on june 30. if you wouldn't mind, please pray for parker - that he will continue to heal favorably, that the activation will go smoothly, and that the transition for him into a noisy world will be a joyful one.

one down...

i picked out a birthday present! and levi already bought it for me! i've been having a really tough time picking out birthday presents...probably because i love surprises so much. but it's really nice to choose something too.

levi and i were looking at this shop together online, and we saw this print. we looked at each other, and at the same time, i said, "that is soooo me" and he said, "that is soooo you."

i know it's a little juvenile being based on a fairy tale and all, but it is just too perfect, and i love it. the princess and the pea has always been my story. you know how i told you yesterday that i was sensitive? i wasn't lying. i'm sensitive in everrrry way, especially to touch and sound. and i love noel young's illustrations. they're so detailed and quirky.

i'd really like these too:

they're from j.crew. aren't they cool?? i will, however, not be getting them. sooooo expensive.

i miiiight get these though:

j.crew again (here and here). there's a skirt there that i like too, but i couldn't find a photo online.

other things on my "dream" birthday list:

- a couch
- a yellow kitchenaid standup mixer
- a big, huge, soft, fluffy, white rug for our bedroom to cover the entire carpet
- lots of pretty skirts
- cute sandals with squishy soles
- an unlimited membership to a pilates studio
- delicious cupcakes
- a golden doodle puppy (isn't that name the silliest??)

i've missed shopping.
