help!

we are celebrating thanksgiving, with my family, in san francisco this year.

we're trying to find a good restaurant where we can celebrate thanksgiving.

it needs to be:
1.) $30 or less per person (i know, i know. practically impossible in sf)
2.) and in the city.

we don't really care if we eat "thanksgiving" food or not. honestly, i would love a good steak and some mashed potatoes.

any insider tips?

  2. Well... maybe Balboa Café (that might be slightly too much?), Max’s Opera Café, Range, or The Cliff House. There's also Asqew Grill, Plutos, and if all else fails, I'll be having an orphan Thanksgiving, so you wouldn't have to have McDonalds. :) Yelp probably has some threads about this too so you may want to check there.

  3. I'm not sure if you're going for fancy or what. Tommy's Joynt is super casual (communal tables and whatnot), but they're doing a traditional T-Day dinner for dirt cheap. They are delicious and a iconic here in the city:

    I hope that helps!

  4. You're coming to my neck of the woods!

I love a good steak and for that I'd absolutely recommend Ruth's Chris - but, unfortunately, it's can get really pricey.
So I think going for ambiance is better.
    What about Bistro Boudin?
You can't go to San Francisco without eating some sourdough bread, plus it's at an awesome location - Fisherman's Wharf!
I looked up the menu for you.

  5. the best thanksgiving i ever had was when my family ate at Mel's Diner in San Francisco. Definitely under $30 but so delicious and fun. They have a full turkey dinner with all the fixins PLUS pumpkin pie! and you know it's good because it's a diner. plus, it's a fun story to tell. :)
