workin for the weekend

well, we had quite the day yesterday. we didn't get to sleep until almost 5:00 in the morning.

but we got a lot done.

let me show you.

we packed up the car to take a few things over and get a jump on moving. (btw, levi has never worked for ups.)

we reveled in the glory of our new home for a bit.

we discovered how badly the hardwood floors need a good scrubbing and searched for an internet connection. alas, there wasn't one. hopefully, it won't take too long to get it hooked up.

we stopped at costco for lunch on the way to home depot.

grabbed a few odds and ends before heading to the paint department to grab samples of our paint choices.

i made one last final plea for yellow.

it worked! levi, you're my favorite person in the whole wide world!! i consider this part of my birthday present.

we painted the samples on the walls...i went a little overboard with my sample.

we decided against the retro avocado. it was too brown/yellow when we got it on the wall. it looked kind of like the contents of a diaper. we went with rolling hills instead, and it is gorgeous. the yellow in our dining "room" is macaw, and we stuck with anonymous and dragon fruit for the bedroom. can i please tell you how much i love paint color names?? they're fantastic. they make the entire experience so much more fun.

i took a couple extra photos of the place to be nice.

this is the kitchen. we have a back door! the top comes opens. isn't it adorable?? levi wants to put a shelf on the bottom half of the door for cooling pies. i guess i'll be making more pies living here! haha!

this is the bedroom and anonymous on the walls.

i put our names on the mailbox! for some reason, this was very exciting for me. this is the front.

this is the inside.

now here's where we got a little crazy. we were so pumped on painting that we decided to go back to home depot after dinner to buy our paint and get started that very evening.

we left at 4:00 in the morning.

the living room probably needs one more coat to make it perfect.

the dining "room" should be done. i am so excited about this little nook. i can't help but smile every time i see it. we want to get a mini glittering chandelier and hang it from the center of the dining room's little ceiling. it's going to be amazing.

levi didn't do all of the painting, but he did do all of the edging. he's much better at it than i am.

so today, we're going to paint the bedroom, touch up everything else, clean, and pack some more. we'll probably be done in time to watch the laker game. woo!

The dutch door in your kitchen is darling; I've always wanted one. Your man's idea of putting a shelf up for cooling pies is so cute. Lastly, love your idea to put a crystal chandelier in your dining nook. I think it will look great! I've been hunting for one myself and I saw a few cute ones at Ikea that weren't too expensive. So excited for you!

  47. LOVE your paint choices! Be happy your walls were white to start. Ours were some pretty outrageous colors. We had to do two coats of primer, plus two coats of actual paint to get the walls how we wanted them. BUT, it was well worth it. I love color.

  48. I love it!! Congrats on the new place!

  53. {heart} the yellow!! My living room is 'butter'...but your yellow reminds me of my aunt. When I was a kid my uncle found a 50 gallon drum of the paint they use for the stripe down the center of a road...my auntie painted her kitchen that yellow...it was lovely! yellow was my fav color as a kid!

  55. i love it! your new place looks adorable! i wanted to paint fun colors in our new place, but it's mostly brick walls. the places that have dry wall had already been done for me... so instead i just have to daydream...

  56. LOVE the yellow. When we bought our house last year I was hugely pregnant and I hated the color of every room so the hubs had to paint everything while I "supervised." Oh and your floors are gorgeous!

  59. What an absolutely adorable place you have. I can see why you are so excited.

You should enlarge the second photo of the two of you on the floor. That would make such a cool "We love our home" portrait.

  60. you have hardwood floors! so jealous. i am totally trying to talk kiwi into letting me paint our bedroom a cool grey... anonymous would be perfect! maybe he will give in like levi.

keep us posted on all the wonderful home updates!

  61. Looks fantastic, Jas! Love how you wrote your names on the mailbox. Can't wait to see the finished product. :))

p.s. SO disappointed in our boys last night! That steal by Pietrus sealed our fate for that game. On to Game #4! Let's get it down.

  62. By the way, where'd you get the shirt you're wearing in these pics? It looks exactly like the one I've got on with now, got mine from Gilly Hicks. Mmm...so soft!

    ReplyDelete
  63. oh yay for painting! we have been doing it every single night this week. we haven't even gotten to the fun part of colors because we are doing ceilings and primer on every inch of the house first! it looks like an adorable place though... and i just lust after real hard wood floors. fun!

  64. this all looks sooo cute!

  65. I love the green color you guys chose! That Costco pizza picture made me laugh. My boyfriend and I always used to go to Costco for pizza and hotdogs as a date. It was lame, but we always loved it. Good memories!

    ReplyDelete
  66. there must be some sort of deal between costco and the home depot because every town I've ever lived in has always had them both in the same shopping center! in hawaii there is this rule that starbucks must be next to jamba juices (jamba jai? plural?) because its some sort of beverage monopoly.

just thought you should know! oh and the human/dancer post made me giggle out loud. rare!

  67. I LOVE your new place... My old lake apartment had a door like that and I was truly in love with it! I also adore all the colors you chose... I'm so happy for your new place. Hooray! :)
